A resource for the Scratch Builder
Dedicated to building your own
It has been a while since I've had a chance to update this page. A lot has been going on from customers getting our first machines up and running, plugin development, machine interface development, machine add ons, and youtubeing plugin tutorials. This is a picture of the result of our latest customer, Com-Pac International, using our machine in an industrial setting used to make foam mockups of tiny complex extrusions used for seal on all sorts of sealable bags.
First and foremost, THANK YOU to all those who stopped by our booth at the Toledo Weak Signals Show. Our reception was incredibly positive and so overwhelming that it caught us somewhat unawares. There are still a few housekeeping issues on our end that need to be tidied up and we hope that you forgive us for this slight delay. We are working on getting some instructions together for the machine kits and I'm sure you noticed that we were so busy getting the machine to it's final stages that the website has been left by the wayside. Starting next week I hope to begin regularly posting updates as well as adding new digital plans and new model kits for sale, first up are the Black Widow P-61 and the Hellcat F6F.
I sincerely apologize that I have a day job, I would work on this new business venture night and day if time allowed. As for this coming weekend, my focus is to put up some high quality photos and videos of the machine and begin updating the website. Please check back soon! If you would like to be put on email update list please let us know by dropping a line to erik@foamcasualty.com.
In the not too distant future we hope to begin testing the limits of the mill on other materials besides foam. We're going to be looking at carbon fiber, cardboard, various plastics and balsa wood.
Stay tuned, we are very excited to see where this machine will take us and would like nothing more than to have you all along for the ride.
-Erik
Parts are being readied to be brought to the show for machine kits! We hope to see you there!
We will be in Toledo this year on the main floor! Please come out and show your support! More news to come in the near future on the machine and kits!
Turns out I wrecked the forums, so rather than taking time to fix them, I'm just going to abandon them. This means the Corsair files will still be free, except you will no longer need to register to obtain them.
I had the forums working, and you can still navigate them from the side menu, but soon they will just go away, the F4U Corsair plans will be able to be found under the build log to the right.
foam RC aircraft from scratch.
Scratch building isn't where this all started. In the summer of 2007 I bought one of the classic WWII fighters, a Horizon Hobby Parkzone Spitfire. I blatantly ignored the warnings of my salesman and his prophecies of a 30 second flight time for the noobie. I didn't need no trainer, knew I was gonna crash this plane before I even considered it, and I lasted a good 31 seconds before it went down! With a new propeller and some packing tape we were back into the air without even leaving the field. Before the end of the summer I learned so much from fixing that depron "RTF" foamie that I began building my own warbirds...
